Teaching Cultures Survey: 2019-2025
The report Advancing the reward of university teaching: insights from three waves of the Teaching Cultures Survey has now been published.
The report offers a global picture of how university teaching is valued and rewarded at institutions working to strengthen recognition of university teaching in academic career progression. Drawing on findings from 2019, 2022 and 2025, the analysis captures academics’ views on how university teaching is valued and rewarded, and examines how perceptions have shifted as reforms to career pathways and promotion processes have been introduced.
In 2025, 17 research-intensive universities across nine countries took part, with 12,071 academics participating. Institutions included King’s College London, Utrecht University, the University of British Columbia and the University of New South Wales.
